1. Structural Steel Supports (Click Images for Larger View)
Structural steel supports for each bin system are designed by a professional engineer with in-house CAD drafting and engineering support. Flexibility in design permits multilevel floor elevations to support machinery and provide easy access for servicing.
Lemanco bin support structures are fabricated for bolted erection and designed to match-mate with Lemanco bins. Lemanco bin systems are provided with anchor bolt locations and column loadings for the concrete foundation design. Attention to detail in both engineering and manufacturing assures faster field erection.
Chief can also design your foundation and assist in finding a geotechnical engineer to prepare the soil test.
2. Hoppers:
Standard hoppers are one-piece, 60 degree corner draw, with an 18" x 18" opening. Options available include side and center discharge with various degrees of slope. Discharge openings can be designed to meet any requirements, including "square to round" discharge, or "pant leg" double discharge. Sight glass and bin indicator mounting stubs are optional. Hoppers can be designed to receive live bottom equipment including screw feeders. Two-piece hoppers are available upon request. Lemanco hoppers have a uniquely formed base angle that supports the entire perimeter of the hopper and rests on the structural beam grid.
Lemanco hoppers include internal chamfer sections at each corner, which eliminates 90 degree corners and facilitates product flow. Hopper design is based on product weight, flow characteristics, abrasiveness and the total capacity of the bin.
Hoppers are shop coated with two mils of exterior primer, with a standard linseed oil interior coating. Optional coatings are available, including food grade epoxy coatings after blasting. Hoppers may be recessed within the bin compartment, or fabricated to comply with various elevations. These features give Lemanco Bin Systems a superior advantage in hopper design.
3. Sidewalls
Exterior sidewalls are G90 galvanized steel standard zinc coated from the mill, double row punched for rigidity during filling and emptying of compartments. Galvanized sidewalls are specially packaged at the factory to allow air circulation to prevent oxidation of material during transit and storage. Internal common wall partition sheets are Hot Rolled Carbon Steel, with the exception of the top four (4) tiers which are galvanized. This provides protection to the exposed internal partition sheets when the angle of repose does not allow stored products to cover the upper sidewalls. The sheet gauge is determined by product density and bin capacity.
4. Reinforcement Members
Exterior bin reinforcement members are made from heavy galvanized steel. Horizontal members are cold formed into a sloping hat section that bolts into the double lapped side wall.
Vertical intermediate columns and end columns are cold formed from galvanized steel. All exterior walls are galvanized construction to ensure years of maintenance free operation. Interior supports include vertical corner chamfers that extend from top of hopper to the roof.
Lemanco corner chamfers are a standard patented ventilation feature found only on Lemanco Bin Systems and perform a fourfold purpose:
Chamfers form a four-sided strengthening column at every four compartment intersection.
Chamfers serve as a ventilating shaft, keeping stored products aerated.
With tumbling products, chamfers provide an escape vent for trapped air, preventing an intense vacuum which could result in collapsed sides and roof, or a damaged hopper.
Chamfers eliminate 90 degree corners which can cause product hang up, resulting in product contamination. Internal horizontal reinforcing members have a minimum 60 degree slope which assists product flow and adds structural integrity to the bin wall.
Standard interior reinforcing members are formed from ASTM-569 carbon steel. All reinforcing members are designed to meet American Iron and Steel Institute "Specifications for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members" - latest edition.
5. Roof
Standard roof sheets consist of Hot Rolled Steel, painted "Light Gray Enamel", sized to fit, for field welding to roof support members.
Optional roof designs: Decking and curb forms to accept concrete or tread plate. The roof deck is designed to support substantial machine loads.
Each compartment has a 20" x 26" manway/filter media with bird screen and an 8", 10", or 12" flanged spout inlet. Manways are complete with inspection port, vent, and filter. Options available: larger manways with vents, or sealed, pressure relief hatches/manways.
6. Accessory Items
(A) Bin Discharge
Lemanco bin systems offer a variety of discharge gates including totally enclosed, manual, pneumatic, or electrically operated. Standard openings vary from 12" to 24" sq. Optional gate sizes can also be provided. Lemanco dust tight discharge adaptors offer a common discharge from 2 to 4 bin compartments. Triple, twin, and single screw feeders are designed to deliver products from Lemanco bins where direct gravity discharge is impractical or impossible; where rigid controls are required; or when the product is conducive to bridging. These units are an integral part of the Lemanco System and eliminate assembly and flow problems normally encountered when equipment has not been coordinated with the bin design.
Lemanco Live Bottom Feeders are custom designed to meet individual requirements and have frequently been used for handling meat scraps, bone meal, feather meal, cottonseed hulls, and other hard to flow products in both agricultural and industrial applications. All standard screw feeders have variable pitch flighting.
Lemanco Live Bottom Feeders are compatible with completely automated systems because of their consistent performance, durable construction, and minimum maintenance. Lemanco feeders feature emergency cutoff slides and access doors. Standard pricing includes reducer, motor mount, sheaves, belts, and guards. (Motors and electrical equipment are provided by others.)
(B) Weigh Hopper
The Lemanco Batching System includes a weigh hopper and scale, suspended beneath the bins to speed batching of various products. This flared top weigh hopper accepts gravity flow from as many as nine full-sized compartments, or a maximum of sixteen by dividing certain compartments. By utilizing screw feeders, as many as 38 full size or 42 split compartments can be discharged into a single weigh hopper. The weigh hopper has a steel cover or header box attached to the gates or feeder discharge, a canvas connector and a vent with filter to insure clean operation. A scale suspension package can be furnished match-mated to the weigh hopper providing state of the art weighing equipment.
One person operates the entire Lemanco system from a central control station. Lemanco`s Weigh Lorry System minimizes the need for moving trucks during load-out of finished product.
(C) Safety Equipment
Lemanco safety equipment, including ladders, cages, platforms, catwalks, safety gates, etc., are designed to meet O.S.H.A. requirements. Material and design options are available.
(D) Mezzanine Floors
Floors can be designed for any elevation within the main support structure or head house. Lemanco Systems offer designs to support specific load requirements. Mezzanine designs are available for support of heavy equipment. Standard walk surfaces are bar grating or safety plate.
Chief also offers decking and curb forms to accept concrete floors.
(E) Head house
The unique Lemanco bin roof design allows for varying size head houses with multilevel floors to support and protect equipment and personnel without additional roof supports. Head house column anchors are tied into vertical chamfered columns for maximum stability.
(F) Stairways, Stairwells, and Ships-Ladders
The flexible Lemanco design can incorporate stairwells in, or attached to bin structures, providing stairways from grade to the top of the head house, accessing all intermediate floors at any elevation. Ships-ladders are also available from grade to mezzanine floors within the bin support structure.
7. Bin Assembly
Unique erection platforms attach inside each compartment to be raised as work progresses. This creates a consistent work floor to assure fast and economical installation. Cranes are not required after structural steel and hoppers have been set.
Experienced contractors have been able to install Lemanco bins in under three man-hours/tier/compartment. Normal estimates are six (6) man-hours/tier/compartment. Main supporting structural steel is estimated at 12 man hours/compartment. Contact Chief Agri/Industrial for additional information.
8. Miscellaneous Facts
Lemanco modular bins can be designed for future add-on in all directions as business demands grow.
